Issuing tickets and charging for goods and services is so much easier with a Stripe terminal. To get started, follow the steps below.
Enable Terminals In Your Event
Make sure you are logged into Eventeny as the user who created the event. Other team members will not be able to access the settings needed to enable Terminals on the event.
- At the top of the homepage, hover over the words "Organize" and select the event you want to use terminals with. If you do not see your event listed, select "See all events" at the bottom to go to the listing of all of your events and select the event that you wish to enable terminals on there.
- Once you have navigated to your event, click "Settings" in the "Other Actions" dropdown on the left hand side of the event admin page.
- Scroll down on the event settings page until you see the On-site payment terminal setup section. Click "Enable Payment Terminal".
- In the pop-up modal that appears, enter the address information for where you will the utilizing the terminals. If there are multiple locations, they must be within the same zip code, and you should utilize the main location as the address here. Make sure to click the save button at the bottom to finish enabling your terminals.
Connect Terminals in the Eventeny Mobile App
One you have enabled the terminals in your event, and filled out the location information, you can connect your terminal through the Eventeny mobile app. Note that you must be logged in to the Eventeny mobile app as a user that has at least support access to tickets on the event in order to utilize terminals on the mobile app.
- Before you begin, you need to ensure that Bluetooth is turned on for your phone, and that the Eventeny mobile app has access to your location services. Otherwise, the terminals will not be able to operate properly.
- Open the app and select the event that you are utilizing terminals on.
- Under the event location and time information, click the blue "Manage event" button.
- Select "Setup Payment Terminal" from the options under the section titled On-site payment terminals.
- Click "Let's Begin". The app will then take you through a step-by-step process to connect your Stripe terminal.
- Click the blue connect button that corresponds with the terminal that you are attempting to connect. There may be multiple options, depending on how many terminals are active within range of the device.
- Once your terminal successfully connects, you will see a screen that indicates the connection has been successful. Click "complete setup" to return to the main event management screen.
Troubleshooting Connection Issues
After clicking "connect" there is just a spinning blue circle, and it won't finish the connection.
If the terminal initiates the connection, but does not move to the connection screen, your terminal may need to update. While our hardware team does its best to update terminals before shipping them to you, sometimes the terminals are updated during shipping. If this happens, leave the device and terminal alone until the terminal completes its firmware update. It is very important that you do not attempt to restart the device or disconnect the Bluetooth connection during the update. This can take anywhere from 2 to 25 minutes depending on the size of the update. Once the update is complete, the terminal will restart, indicated by three beeps and a flash of all of the indicator lights, and then the mobile app will show a successful connection.
I received an error message that the update failed because the battery was too low.
Sometimes, if the battery is too low on the device, the device will not be able to complete the update. In this instance, the mobile app will display this message: "Connection failed - Updating the reader software failed because the reader's battery is too low. Charge the reader before trying again." In this instance, make sure to connect the device to a power source to charge the battery above 50% in order to complete the software update. Once the battery's power is above 50% you can attempt to retry the software update. We recommend keeping the terminal plugged in while it is updating, to ensure the battery stays charged, or until the battery is at 100%.
I received an error that the location on my device was not found.
If you receive this error, check the settings on your event, following the instructions listed in "enable terminals in your event" above. If that does not resolve the issue, follow the instructions for your mobile device to verify that Eventeny has access to location services on the device. We recommend setting the location services to "always allow" or "always" to ensure uninterrupted service while a terminal is connected.
