Why does Eventeny require payment information, and how can I avoid fraud?

Users often have questions about why payment information is required and how to ensure their financial security while using the platform. This article goes over Eventeny's payment requirements and providing tips to avoid fraudulent activities.

Payment Requirements on Eventeny

Why we require payment information upfront

When you submit an application on Eventeny, you'll be asked to provide ACH (bank account) or credit card information whenever the application includes any pricing. This is a platform-wide requirement; it ensures your application can be processed successfully and applies to every event using Eventeny, without exception.

If you have questions about specific fees, deposits, or pricing tiers, reach out to the event organizer directly for clarification. They set the pricing and payment terms; Eventeny simply processes them securely.

Fraud Prevention and Security Tips

Eventeny will never message you directly to request your credit card number, bank account details, or login credentials. If you receive a message asking for this information, treat it as fraudulent.

To keep your account and financial information safe:

  1. Don't click links in unexpected or unsolicited messages — even if they appear to come from an organizer or reference a real event.

  2. Never share sensitive information (payment details, passwords, banking info, or verification codes) through direct messages, email, text, or external links.

  3. Only pay through the Eventeny platform. If an event organizer asks you to pay via Zelle, CashApp, Venmo, PayPal, wire transfer, or any other method outside Eventeny, this is a red flag — legitimate transactions never require this.

    1. Payments made outside the Eventeny platform are outside our visibility and control. If a dispute arises from an offline payment, Eventeny is unable to assist or intervene.

  4. Verify the sender before responding. Confirm requests through the official event listing or by contacting the organizer through Eventeny's messaging system rather than replying directly to a suspicious message.

  5. Use a strong, unique password for your Eventeny account, and enable two-factor authentication, to reduce the risk of unauthorized access.

  6. Double-check URLs before entering any information. Eventeny's platform will always be under the eventeny.com domain — watch for lookalike domains or misspellings.

  7. Keep your contact information current so you receive account alerts and can be reached quickly if unusual activity is detected.

If you suspect you've interacted with a fraudulent message or given out sensitive information, contact your financial institution immediately to secure your accounts and monitor for unauthorized activity. You should also report the message to Eventeny support so we can investigate.

FAQs About Payment Information

How do I know if a payment request is legitimate?

Legitimate payment requests only occur within an application or invoice on the Eventeny platform. Eventeny will never ask for payment details through direct message, email, or text.

What should I do if I'm asked to pay outside the platform?

Don't do it. Report the request to Eventeny support and, if you've already shared financial information, contact your bank right away.

Will Eventeny help me resolve a dispute if I paid outside the platform?

No. Payments made outside Eventeny are outside our visibility and control, so we're unable to assist with disputes related to them. This is why we strongly recommend keeping all transactions on-platform.
